How to play Minesweeper Rogue

Minesweeper Rogue is classic minesweeper turned into a roguelike run. Dig through 8 floors, hit each floor's score target, spend your gold on relics that change the rules – and survive the bosses at the bottom.

The classic rules

Tap a cell to dig it. A number shows how many mines touch that cell, diagonals included. Blank cells open their neighbours automatically. Your first tap on every floor is always safe and opens an area. Long-press (or switch to flag mode) to flag a mine; tap a number whose mines are all flagged to open everything around it.

Scoring: chips × mult

Every cell you open gives chips: a blank gives 1, a number gives its value. Each tap multiplies its chips by your mult, which starts at 1 and grows by 0.1 for every safe tap in a row – your combo. A big cascade with a long combo scores far more than many tiny taps. Gems give bonus chips and gold, stars multiply the whole tap.

Targets, hearts and descending

Reach the target to unlock the Descend button. You can keep digging for bonus gold (beating the target by far, clearing the whole board) – but each guess risks a heart. You start with 3 hearts and they carry over between floors. If the whole board is open and you are still short of the target, the run ends.

Relics

56 relics change how you score and survive: Lucky Three (3s give triple chips), Avalanche (big cascades double), Metal Detector (2 mines flagged at the start), Safety Net (first mine each floor is free), Golden Flag (correct flags pay gold), Cornerstone, Momentum, Glass Cannon and many more. You hold 5 at a time – sell the weak ones to make room.

Tools

Tools are one-shot items: a Probe opens any cell safely, a Flare flags every mine in a 3×3 area, Dynamite blasts open a blank area, a Bandage heals, an Elixir triples your next tap.

Bosses

Floors 2, 4 and 6 are bosses with odd rules: Shifting Sands (buried mines move), Dense Fog (only nearby numbers show), The Mute (hidden numbers), Short Fuse (a ticking clock), Blackout (no cascades), No Flags, The Miser and Minefield. Floor 8 is a final boss: the Warden, the Hydra, the Abyss or Clockwork.

Kits and ascension

Unlock 6 more starting kits – Sapper, Surveyor, Prospector, Gambler, Monk and Daredevil – by reaching milestones. Win a run to unlock the next of 8 ascension levels.

The Daily Dig

Every day everyone gets the same seeded run. One try counts for the worldwide board: 1,000 points per floor, 5,000 for a win and a tenth of your score.

Tips

Bank interest: every 5 gold you keep earns 1 more (up to 5). Build around one scoring idea instead of five small ones. Use Probes on true 50/50 guesses, not before. On a Fuse floor, chain big cascades – every opened cell adds a second to the clock.
